Referring Physicians

How to refer a patient, what to send with the referral, and what you can expect back from us.

For Physicians

A Straightforward Referral Process

Alliance Heart & Vascular accepts referrals for general cardiology, preventive cardiology, cardiac diagnostics, vascular care, interventional cardiology, and preoperative cardiac clearance.

We aim to see urgent referrals quickly and to return a clear written summary after the consultation, so your patient's care continues without a gap.

To refer a patient, call (346) 614-0002 or send the referral through your usual channel. Our team will contact the patient directly to schedule.

Reasons to Refer

When to Refer to Cardiology

We welcome referrals for evaluation, diagnosis, or ongoing co-management, including:

Chest discomfort on exertion
Breathlessness with reduced exercise tolerance
Palpitations or documented arrhythmia
Newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation
Abnormal ECG or ambulatory monitor
Suspected or confirmed heart failure
A murmur or suspected valve disease
Syncope or unexplained dizziness
Resistant or secondary hypertension
Complex lipid management or statin intolerance
Preoperative cardiac clearance
Peripheral artery disease or claudication
Carotid disease or an abnormal vascular study
Follow-up after myocardial infarction or stenting
A family history of premature cardiac disease
Ongoing symptoms after an emergency department visit

If a patient needs urgent assessment, call the office directly and tell our team — we will prioritise the appointment rather than route it through the standard queue.

What to Send

What to Include With a Referral

The more that arrives with the referral, the fewer repeat tests your patient needs:

The clinical question you want answered
Relevant history and current symptoms
Current medication list
Recent ECG tracings
Recent laboratory results, including lipids and renal function
Prior echocardiogram, stress test, or monitor reports
Any hospital or emergency department discharge summary

Urgent referrals

For a patient needing urgent assessment, call the office and speak to our team directly rather than sending paperwork. Patients with acute chest pain or suspected acute coronary syndrome should be directed to emergency services.

How a Referral Works

From referral to report, the process is designed to keep you informed and your patient moving.

Send the Referral

Call (346) 614-0002 or send through your usual referral channel, with the clinical question you want answered.

We Contact the Patient

Our team reaches out directly to schedule at whichever office is more convenient, and flags anything urgent for earlier review.

Evaluation and Testing

Consultation plus any indicated testing — ECG, echocardiography, stress testing, monitoring, and vascular ultrasound are performed on site.

A Written Summary

You receive a clear letter with findings, diagnosis, medication changes, and the follow-up plan.

Shared Ongoing Care

We are glad to co-manage long term or to return the patient to your care once the question is answered — whichever you prefer.

ECG, echocardiography, exercise and nuclear stress testing, Holter and extended rhythm monitoring, and vascular ultrasound.

Yes, and we prioritise them because surgical dates are hard to move. Include the planned procedure and date with the referral.

A patient with acute chest pain, suspected acute coronary syndrome, or haemodynamic instability should be directed to emergency services rather than an outpatient referral.
